In June 2022, we helped the Konzett bookbindery in Bludenz, Austria expand their production capabilities with a DX-50 folding and thread sewing system from Smyth. Because Konzett had recently invested in a digital printing press, adding the DX-50 meant that they were able to expand their product portfolio significantly. They can now offer the complete production of all types of books in-house, especially high quality, short and very short runs. Customers can order thread-sewn books from their online store.
By investing in a DX-50, Konzett also added value in other areas: as a bookbindery, they can now handle thread stitching and book production for printers in neighboring regions and add to their list of possible services, the binding of academic theses.
One of the main reasons that Konzett decided to buy the DX-50 was because of its integrated folding unit, which eliminates the need for an external folding operation. They were also drawn by the DX-50’s short makeready time and ability to change jobs quickly—a decisive factor in the cost-effective production of short runs.
