Professional binding of short runs in digital and offset printing is a great way to add value to your product and offer your customers all-in-one service. At Postprint Leipzig we offer two machines from our partner Eurotecnica for short run printing. Based in Vigonza, in Italy’s Veneto region, near Padua, Eurotecnica is carrying on the tradition of its predecessor company, Eurotechnica Postpress Srl, and is regarded as one of the leading manufacturers of PUR and Hotmelt perfect binders.
For basic users: EB3000 one clamp perfect binder
The EB300 entry-level model makes the production of adhesive-bound brochures uncomplicated and cost-effective. The format can be changed simply by entering the block dimensions—an important requirement for book-on-demand production. The milling depth of up to 2 mm ensures reliable brochure binding.
For more advanced users: ETS500 one clamp perfect binder
If you intend to have a consistently higher output, the ETS500 is a better fit. With up to 300 cycles per hour, it’s faster than average—and its robust design makes it well-suited for daily use. This model also features fully automatic format changeover, for which you only need to enter the block dimensions.
Key components of the EB300 and ETS500 perfect binders
The block clamp fixes the book block and guarantees safe transport via the milling station and gluing unit to the cover. It’s opened and closed by means of compressed air. After the block has been inserted into the cover, the clamp automatically returns to its original position.
A milling depth of 0-2 mm (EB300) or 0-3 mm (ETS500) can be set at the milling station. The combined milling/notching blade performs both processing steps at one go, and the integrated ring brush removes loose material. On both models, you can use the touchscreen to deactivate the milling/notching knife and mechanically lower it, for such things as gluing thread-sewn blocks.
Both models offer gluing units that can be equipped with a Hotmelt or a PUR gluing unit for spine gluing. For side gluing, both models are equipped with a Hotmelt gluing unit, independent of the PUR gluing system. This consists of an application unit for the PUR adhesive and a premelter with a variable speed and pressure gear pump. The premelter’s tank has a capacity of 2 kg.
Both adhesive bonders are operated via a touchscreen. Many operating functions simplify daily work. For example, preheating of the adhesive can be set via the control panel to shorten the waiting time. Information about the counter reading, notes, and various other information can also be found on the touchscreen.
