With a new high-performance thread book sewing machine, the renowned Italian manufacturer Smyth shows why it’s one of the industry’s leading producers when it comes to technology. The FF-70 4D maintains its sterling reputation, while also adding improvements that significantly improve its performance. This combination of tradition and innovation makes the FF-70 4D one of the best machines available on the market for basic industrial thread sewing of short and medium runs in offset printing.
The FF-70 4D's standard features: cost-effective, flexible, high quality
During development, Smyth’s design engineers kept in mind parameters that are critical to success and particularly relevant for printers and bookbinders today: cost-effectiveness, excellent quality, and maximum flexibility. Thanks to its intuitive interface, the new thread book sewing machine is easy to operate, enables speedy job changes, and is extremely reliable. In contrast to its predecessor, the format range is slightly smaller, from 80 x 135 mm to 320 x 420 mm (sheet width x spine length). Despite its smaller size, the new FF-70 4D is faster and achieves an impressive 9,600 cycles per hour.
A real gamechanger: the patented Smyth 4D feeder
The 4D feeder, unique in its performance class, opens up a range of new possibilities for users. It allows all types of signatures to be processed and because of the shingled transport of the angled folded sheets, it can be counted on to work very reliably.
Even with lightweight paper, there’s no risk that individual signatures will “go missing.”
The suction cups perform a combined movement: They move forward in the same direction and at the same speed as the signatures, thus increasing the contact time with the paper. The result: a 50 percent lower speed for transporting the signatures compared to conventional machines, but with the same excellent performance.
Five benefits of the FF-70 4D thread book sewing machine:
- wide-range of applications
- high-quality thread sewing
- compact design
- very reliable
- easy to use
